NCPHA started the implementation of project “Improvedmental health services”under Programme BG07 "Public Health Initiatives" implemented by the Ministry of Health as a Programme Operator with the financial support of the European Economic Area and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms. The aim of the project, with which NCPHA becomes involved in, is to improve mental health care. The total project duration is 18 months. On this occasion, the Director of NCPHA Assoc. Prof. Hristo Hinkov, MD, PhD, experts from the Department "Mental health" at the NCPHA Zahari Zarkov, MD, PhD, Vladimir Nakov, MD, PhD and Rumyana Dinolova, MD, and Assoc. Prof. Mihail Okolijsky, PhD, Responsible for the WHO Branch Office in Bulgaria, gave a press conference in the BTA Press Club. The project envisages training of general practitioners, social workers and psychologists as well specialists from 28 Regional Health Inspections in the country; conducting an epidemiological study of the prevalence of common mental disorders in the country; increasing the public awareness of mental health problems.
